The cooperative Korea Music Solidarity, formed by domestic music creators and producers, was officially launched on July 29.
The Korea Music Solidarity Cooperative (hereinafter referred to as KMS) is a creator-centered organization established by five founding members who are active in various fields such as performance, planning, distribution, and education. The cooperative has set as its core goals the establishment of a fair distribution structure, improvement of creative environments, protection of musicians' rights and interests, and the creation of a foundation for their independence.
Hong Sejon, a music educator who is a professor in the Department of Practical Music at the International Arts University and the CEO of Club Evans, was elected as the chairperson. The other founding members are Choi Wonmin, CEO of Munhwain; Na Seongsik, CEO of Rock Star Music & Live; Yoon Donghwan, CEO of MY Music; and Lim Inguk, CEO of Juntos Music.
Chairperson Hong Sejon stated, "KMS is not a simple interest group, but a community where musicians can design and protect their own future," adding, "We will work together to create an institutional framework so that everyone who pursues music as a career can create and be active in a better environment."
KMS plans to promote various collaborative projects in the future, including performance planning, operation of educational programs, and the establishment of a joint distribution platform. In addition, it aims to create a sustainable, creator-led music ecosystem by establishing an open structure that encompasses genres and generations.
