To Be Handed Over to the National Fire Agency Next Month
A control tower capable of responding swiftly to nationwide disasters has been established in the Multifunctional Administrative City.
According to the Multifunctional Administrative City Construction Agency (hereinafter referred to as MACCA) on the 29th, the construction of the National Disaster Response Facility located in Dajeong-dong has been completed and is scheduled to be handed over to the National Fire Agency next month.
The National Disaster Response Facility, which will serve as the core base for the National Fire Agency’s disaster response, began construction in December 2023 and was completed in July this year. A total of 18.7 billion won was invested in the project. The facility has a total floor area of 3,572 square meters, consisting of one basement level and three above-ground floors. During normal times, it will be used as a training facility for the Central Emergency Rescue Control Group. In the event of a large-scale disaster, it will serve as the nation’s command and control tower.
The facility was designed with a focus on functional spatial arrangements to enable efficient disaster response.
To allow for immediate dispatch during emergencies, special vehicle garages and a standby room were placed on the first floor. The operations meeting room and disaster response analysis and research lab, which support rapid analysis and effective command and control during disaster situations, are located on the second floor.
On the third floor, a fitness room and a standby room for dispatched personnel have been provided to ensure that staff working around the clock can always maintain optimal condition.
Kim Eunyoung, head of the Public Facility Architecture Division, stated, "The National Disaster Response Facility will play a pivotal role in the national crisis management system," and added, "We will continue to do our utmost to construct facilities that prioritize public safety above all else."
