On July 28, the Ulsan Northern Police Station announced that they are investigating a man in his thirties, identified as A, on suspicion of attempted murder.
A is accused of injuring a woman in her twenties, identified as B, by wielding a weapon against her at around 3:38 p.m. that day in the parking lot of a hospital located in Buk-gu, Ulsan.
After committing the crime in the outdoor ground-level parking lot, A attempted to escape by car but was apprehended by citizens who witnessed the incident.
It is reported that five to six citizens blocked the front of A's vehicle with their bodies or broke the car windows with a fire extinguisher to prevent his escape. During this process, both the front and rear windows of the vehicle A was in were shattered.
The police, who responded to the report, arrested A after he had been subdued by the citizens.
The victim, B, is undergoing emergency surgery at the hospital and is currently reported to be unconscious.
The police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the incident. Once the investigation is complete, the police plan to request an arrest warrant for A.
The police are also considering awarding commendations to the citizens who assisted in apprehending A.
