A mass shooting occurred in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, resulting in the deaths of five security guards and injuries to one other person.

According to AFP and other sources on July 28 (local time), a man opened fire at the well-known Or Tor Kor Market in northern Bangkok earlier that morning.


Thai police stated that five market security guards were killed and one was injured by gunfire, and there were no tourists among the victims.


The suspect who used the firearm was later found dead, bringing the total number of fatalities to six.


The identity and motive of the suspect have not yet been disclosed.


In video footage released by Thai police, the suspect is seen wearing a white hat and carrying a backpack in front of his body while walking toward the market parking lot. This market is a popular destination among tourists.


A local police official told AFP, "We are investigating the motive for the crime," and added, "At this point, we are treating this as a major shooting incident."
