On July 28, the Busan Gangseo Police Station announced that they had arrested nine members of the archery club, including individual A, on charges of habitual theft and violation of the Animal Protection Act, as well as two members of a harmful wild animal capture team, including individual B.

They are accused of capturing and slaughtering 14 black goats from early April last year to April this year in the hills near Saebajina and Oepo Port in Gadeokdo, Gangseo-gu, Busan.

The black goats were livestock being raised and grazed by two local residents who had built barns in the mountains.

According to the police investigation, the archery club members carried out the capture operation together, each carrying a recreational bow called a "compound bow." It is reported that they shared the meat from the hunted animals among themselves.

It was confirmed that recreational bows are not subject to police regulation under the Firearms and Swords Control Act. The archery club members reportedly modified the arrowheads to increase their lethality.

The two members of the harmful wild animal capture team, who usually hunt wild boars and similar animals, used snares to catch the black goats. When they were caught slaughtering the goats at the scene by a nearby resident, one fled into the hills, while the other escaped by climbing a coastal cliff or swimming away.

The police stated that they believe there may be additional offenses and will expand their investigation.
