This agreement is a strategic step toward transforming Uijeongbu into a global education hub. The two institutions plan to collaborate in various fields, including the establishment of a Stanton University campus, joint operation of AI and ESG-based educational programs, expansion of international talent exchanges, and specialized education and admissions support for local youth.
Stanton University, in particular, highly values the global potential of Uijeongbu's youth and has expressed its intention to provide recommendations and priority admission opportunities to local students participating in its programs. As a result, students from Uijeongbu are expected to directly engage with global-level learning environments and educational content.
Stanton University is a nonprofit higher education institution officially accredited by both the U.S. federal government and the State of California. It is a highly trusted university, having received final accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The university offers specialized, practice-oriented degree programs in fields such as business administration, information systems, Korean cuisine, and professional golf, focusing on nurturing globally competent talent.
Based on this agreement, Uijeongbu City plans to further strengthen its status as a global education hub by expanding cooperation with local universities, youth organizations, and businesses.
In addition, to maximize the practical impact of the agreement, the city will hold a Stanton University admissions briefing and program orientation in September for local students, parents, and education officials, providing detailed information about the admissions process and global education programs offered by Stanton University.
Kim Kwangho, President of Stanton University, stated, "Through this agreement, Korean students will be able to experience the global educational environment of the United States more closely," and added, "I hope both institutions will grow together as an educational bridge connecting Asia and the United States."
Mayor Kim Donggeun commented, "This agreement will serve as a stepping stone for Uijeongbu to become a global education city that communicates with the world," and continued, "Through a future-oriented education model that integrates AI, ESG, and global networks, we will open up greater challenges and various opportunities for local youth."
