"Comforting the Military's Morale Is the Top Priority"
Special Warfare Command Chosen as First Visit According to Minister's Intent

On July 28, Defense Minister Ahn Kyubaek visited the 3rd Airborne Brigade of the Army Special Warfare Command, which was mobilized during the 12·3 Martial Law, to encourage and support the morale of the military.

The Ministry of National Defense announced that, on the afternoon of the same day, Minister Ahn made his first on-site inspection since taking office by visiting the 3rd Airborne Brigade of the Special Warfare Command. Although there are many front-line and rear units, such as forward guard operation units, that require on-site inspection, the Ministry explained that the 3rd Airborne Brigade was chosen as the first destination in accordance with Minister Ahn's intention that "the top priority is to comfort the soldiers wounded by the illegal martial law and to unite the morale of the military."

After receiving a report on the stabilization measures taken for the unit following the martial law incident, Minister Ahn met directly with the soldiers of the 3rd Airborne Brigade and the 707th Special Mission Group who were mobilized on the day of martial law, engaging in conversation and communication. Minister Ahn said, "I was saddened to hear that the pride and morale of the Special Warfare Command soldiers, who have devoted themselves solely to the nation and its people, have hit rock bottom," and added, "I wanted to meet you in person first, to talk with you, and to comfort your wounded hearts."

Minister Ahn promised to restore the damaged honor and pride of our military personnel, including those in the Special Warfare Command. He listened attentively to the difficulties faced by the Special Warfare Command soldiers and emphasized, "I will take the necessary measures so that the soldiers of the Special Warfare Command and others mobilized under the illegal martial law can quickly regain psychological stability and restore their honor, allowing them to once again sweat for the defense of the nation as they did before."

Minister Ahn also stated, "As Minister of National Defense, I will rebuild a 'military of the people' that earns the trust and love of the public by firmly establishing civilian control, ensuring that our military strictly maintains political neutrality and focuses solely on its essential duties."
