Kim Byungki, the party’s acting leader and floor leader, stated at the launch ceremony held at the National Assembly on this day, "Just because your monthly salary is 3 million won does not mean your life is worth 3 million won. I hope all citizens will remember and keep in mind the words of President Lee Jaemyung." He added, "Workers must not be excluded from the systems and structures designed for them."
Kim also emphasized, "We must shed the disgrace of being the country with the highest rate of industrial accident fatalities." He continued, "We need to establish a robust occupational safety and health system and urgently overhaul the outdated industrial accident prevention system."
Kim Jooyoung, who leads the TF, pledged, "I will do my utmost, both materially and morally, to create a world where safety is not a cost but a benefit, and where the workplace is not a place of death for workers." He added, "I will make every effort to develop legislative initiatives that can garner broad social consensus."
Going forward, the Industrial Accident Prevention TF plans to focus on enhancing the effectiveness of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, improving the structure of subcontracting, devising measures to protect vulnerable workers, strengthening on-site inspections in the field of industrial safety, and pursuing system improvements and legislative tasks.
