On July 28, Osan City announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KD Transportation Group in the situation room at City Hall to provide financial support for the resumption of this intercity bus route.
This route, which had been suspended since February of last year, will be operated as an 'Osan departure' route, replacing the previous Pyeongtaek-originating intercity bus to Jamsil and East Seoul. According to the agreement, the route will operate eight round trips per day starting in September.
Once intercity bus service resumes, citizens commuting from the Osan area to Seoul will be able to conveniently travel to key areas of Seoul, not only in the Gangdong area but also by transferring to Subway Line 2 at Jamsil Station and East Seoul Terminal Station. The city plans to monitor usage demand to determine whether to increase the number of buses.
The signing ceremony was attended by Osan Mayor Lee Kwonjae, KD Transportation Group CEO Heo Sangjun, and others. Mayor Lee stated, "There has been strong demand from citizens for the establishment of this route, and I am pleased that we are able to resume service this time," adding, "We will continue to make every effort to improve metropolitan transportation measures."
Meanwhile, under the eighth popularly elected administration, Osan City has been continuously expanding metropolitan bus routes. In April of last year, the city established the 8302 metropolitan bus route to Seongnam Pangyo and Yatap, and in December of the same year, it resumed operation of the airport limousine bus to Gimpo Airport. This year, the city launched the 5104 metropolitan bus route to Seoul Station in May and, starting July 1, increased the number of 8301 metropolitan buses to Seongnam Pangyo and Yatap Station.
As part of the plan to expand metropolitan bus services in Segyo 2 District, the city aims to establish two new intercity bus routes departing from Segyo 2 District to Seongnam Yatap and to Jamsil and East Seoul by the end of the year.
