On July 28, Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province announced that it had selected and awarded four public officials as the "Outstanding Active Administration Officials for the First Half of 2025" for their innovative and proactive work that provided tangible benefits to residents' daily lives.
The selection process included a first-round practical review, a resident vote, and a second-round presentation review. Candidates were evaluated from multiple perspectives, including proactiveness, creativity, contribution, and task difficulty. As a result, one official was selected as the top awardee, two as excellence awardees, and one as a merit awardee.
The top award went to Kim Sudong, Head of the Agricultural Policy Planning Team in the Agricultural and Livestock Affairs Office. Kim was recognized for building the first dormitory for foreign agricultural workers in South Chungcheong Province, thereby providing a stable residential environment, and for introducing the Cheongyang County Public Seasonal Worker Program, which helped alleviate the shortage of agricultural labor and reduce the financial burden on local farms.
The excellence award was given to Kim Giho, Head of the Cadastral Reorganization Team in the Civil Affairs and Welfare Division, and Lee Yonghee, Head of the Safety Management Team in the Safety Management Division.
Kim Giho was recognized for reducing civil complaints and delinquencies by advancing the "Preliminary Appraisal System," while Lee Yonghee established a prompt and systematic response system by forming the "Cheongyang County Safety Management Advisory Group" and developing a support manual for residents affected by residential fires.
The merit award was presented to Kim Daewon, an official in the Forest Resources Division. Kim Daewon proactively supported chestnut farmers facing difficulties due to aging and abnormal weather conditions by providing four-wheel vehicles, cultivators, and maintenance of work roads, thereby practicing field-oriented active administration.
The county plans to grant the outstanding officials a citation from the county governor, improved performance ratings, additional points in work evaluations, and other personnel incentives.
Vice Governor Yoon Yeogwon stated, "We highly appreciate the efforts of public officials who have resolved residents' difficulties through active administration, and we will continue to strengthen field-oriented administration to ensure that residents can truly feel the impact of our services."
