Qingpu District Delegation from China Attends Boryeong Mud Festival

Strengthening Friendship and Exchanges Between Sister Cities

Qingpu District Delegation from China Attends Boryeong Mud Festival

The city of Boryeong in South Chungcheong Province announced on the 28th that a delegation from Qingpu District, Shanghai, China (headed by Lee Geonmyeong and five others) visited the 28th Boryeong Mud Festival for three days and two nights from the 25th to the 27th.

Since forming a sister-city relationship in 1999, Qingpu District and Boryeong have actively engaged in exchanges in various fields such as culture, sports, and youth activities. This visit was intended to further strengthen the relationship between the two cities.

On the 25th, the delegation held a welcome meeting at Boryeong City Hall, where they were briefed on the city’s current affairs and key projects. They also discussed ways to expand cultural exchanges through the Mud Festival.

In addition, the delegation attended the opening ceremony and official banquet, and visited major tourist attractions in Boryeong, including Sanghwawon, the Undersea Tunnel, and Daecheon Port.

They also met with the Korea-China Friendship Exchange Association, which has maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship, to broaden the scope of private exchanges.

This visit was in response to the visit by a Boryeong delegation to Qingpu District in November last year for a meeting and a study tour of the New Rural Construction Project. It is being evaluated as having laid the foundation for expanding practical exchanges.

Mayor Kim Dongil said, "I hope that through continued exchanges with Qingpu District, the two cities will achieve tangible results based on mutual trust."
