The two organizations will co-host the "Yeongju Dam Awareness! Yeongju Lake Children's Water Love Camp," organized by the Korea Ecotourism Association. The camp will be held four times in total, from July 28 to August 12.
The camp is designed for elementary school students in grades 3 to 6 from across the country and from within Yeongju City. Each session will last two days, with approximately 30 participants per session.
Participants will tour local tourism infrastructure such as the Yeongju Dam Water Culture Center, Yeongju Adventure Castle, and Yeongju Lake Auto Camping Site, learning about the historical, ecological, and environmental value of Yeongju Dam and Yeongju Lake.
On the first day, at the Yeongju Dam Water Culture Center, students will learn about the history of Naeseongcheon Stream and Yeongju Dam, as well as the water management system. They will also experience the importance of water quality management by measuring BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) using water quality experiment kits. In the evening, recreational activities at the auto camping site will help participants communicate and build bonds with each other.
On the second day, participants will visit Museom Village, a representative tourist destination in Yeongju, where they will experience traditional culture and explore nature. The camp aims to showcase the charm of "Yeongju, a place you'll want to visit again" by combining ecological experiences with traditional cultural exploration.
Kim Seonju, Branch Manager of Yeongju Dam, said, "This will be a meaningful opportunity for children to experience the value of water resources and the beauty of Yeongju Lake. I hope every participant will create unforgettable memories."
An official from Yeongju City stated, "This program was designed as an educational experience where children can directly learn about the importance of environmental conservation and water management. It will contribute to revitalizing ecological tourism at Yeongju Lake and spreading the value of local resources."
