The exhibition, which opened on May 23, drew significant attention by unveiling seven original paintings for the first time in the world. On average, about 2,000 domestic and international visitors per day have viewed the exhibition, which features approximately 170 pieces, including oil paintings, prints, and drawings. The exhibition has been praised for sensuously expressing universal emotions such as Chagall's life and art, mythology and religion, and love and memory.
In particular, the media art space, which offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Chagall's public art projects, has gained notable popularity. This space presents immersive media renditions of the ceiling painting at the Palais Garnier in Paris and the stained glass windows at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.
The honor of being the 100,000th visitor went to a man in his 60s residing in Siheung. He received an art merchandise package worth 100,000 won, including an exhibition catalog, an eco-bag, postcards, and a hand mirror.
A representative from the Seoul Arts Center stated, "The figure of 100,000 is more than just a tally. The messages of love, memory, and hope conveyed by Chagall's works have resonated with many people across generations and nationalities. We hope that even more visitors will join Chagall's moving journey during the remaining exhibition period."
The exhibition will continue at the Hangaram Art Museum of the Seoul Arts Center until September 21. Detailed information about the exhibition and ticket reservations can be found on the official website of the Seoul Arts Center and major ticketing platforms.
