The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries will hold an event offering discounts of up to 50% on domestic seafood to promote seafood consumption during the summer vacation season.
On July 27, the ministry announced that it will host the "Korea Seafood Festival - Special Summer Vacation Edition" from July 28 to August 21.
The event covers not only six popular fish species and key price-controlled items such as gim, but also seafood that is in high demand during the summer, including abalone, eel, flatfish, and rockfish.
Consumers can receive discounts of up to 50% on domestic seafood purchases at supermarkets and online malls.
From August 1 to 5, a special Onnuri gift certificate refund event will also be held at 101 traditional markets nationwide.
After purchasing domestic seafood at participating markets, consumers can present their receipt along with a mobile phone or ID at the refund booth in the market. After identity verification, they can receive a refund of up to 20,000 won in Onnuri gift certificates, depending on the purchase amount.
