'I Am an Instructor!'... Busan City Selects Five Leading Instructors in Citizen Economic Education Competition

Who are the winners of this year's competition to select the leading instructors in economic education for citizens, organized by Busan City?

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on the 27th that it held an award ceremony on the 25th to honor five outstanding instructors who were selected as representative economic education instructors through the "I Am an Instructor!" program.

"I Am an Instructor!" is a competition-style instructor selection program designed to provide high-quality economic education to Busan citizens. Now in its third year, the program is hosted by Busan City and organized by the Busan Regional Economic Education Center of the Busan Institute.

The evaluation process consisted of a first round of video lectures (from May 20 to 30) and a second round of on-site lectures (on July 11). Out of 45 applicants, the top five from the first round advanced to the finals, where they delivered themed lectures in the on-site competition. The final rankings were determined by evaluations from five expert judges specializing in economics.

The grand prize was awarded to Jung Youngmi, the top excellence award went to Lee Dawon, and Lim Sehun received the excellence award. Kim Kyungsoo and Tae Won were given encouragement awards. The grand prize winner is granted the opportunity to teach for 50 hours annually, the top excellence awardee for 20 hours, the excellence awardee for 10 hours, and each encouragement awardee for 5 hours.

Winners of the grand prize through the excellence award received the Busan Mayor's Award, while the encouragement awardees received the Busan Institute Director's Award. In addition to this instructor selection, the Busan Regional Economic Education Center is also working to develop educational content and expand customized education to provide economic education tailored to citizens' life cycles. The center also offers practical economic and financial education to diverse groups, including youth, seniors, military personnel, and inmates.

Kim Bongcheol, Director of Digital Economy at Busan City, emphasized, "We hope citizens will actively utilize the excellent instructors and content at the Economic Education Center," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to support citizens who are currently underserved in economic education."
