Gwangju City has successfully hosted the '2025 Disaster Safety Industry New Technology Contest,' taking the lead in discovering innovative safety technologies.
This year, a total of 15 new technologies were submitted to the contest, resulting in fierce competition. After expert evaluation, three technologies were ultimately selected for awards.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Chonnam National University Hospital's 'AI-based Integrated Disaster Patient Management and Transport Platform,' which is expected to dramatically increase survival rates at disaster sites by integrating artificial intelligence with advanced technologies.
The Excellence Award went to the Korea Photonics Technology Institute's 'Distributed AIoT Ground Subsidence Safety Prediction System,' which was recognized as an innovative technology capable of preventing disasters in advance through real-time ground safety monitoring.
Hyutech Industry Co., Ltd.'s 'Smart Life-saving Platform for Water Disaster Response' received the Encouragement Award, presenting new possibilities for rescuing drowning victims using on-device AI technology.
The city plans to actively support the award-winning technologies with follow-up measures, including assistance for participation in exhibitions hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Kim Junyoung, Director of Citizen Safety, stated, "Recently, disasters have become increasingly uncertain due to the intensity and frequency of natural disasters caused by climate change, as well as the trend of large-scale complex disasters resulting from environmental changes such as aging, urbanization, and concentration. We will do our utmost to strengthen our disaster and accident response capabilities by developing and disseminating technologies to protect citizens from disasters."
