It was belatedly revealed that actor Song Youngkyu was caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
On July 25, the Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that Song had been sent to the prosecution without detention at the end of last month on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Song is suspected of driving under the influence for about 5 kilometers from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu in Yongin City at around 11:00 p.m. on June 19.
The police responded to a report stating, "It seems that someone who has been drinking is driving a car," and apprehended Song at the scene. Song's blood alcohol concentration was found to be at a level warranting license cancellation (0.08% or higher).
At the time, Song reportedly drove his car to return home after drinking with acquaintances.
Song is currently appearing in the play "Shakespeare in Love" and the ENA drama "Eye Shopping," and is set to appear in the upcoming SBS drama "Try: We Become Miracles."
