Gwangju Dongbu Fire Station announced on July 25 that it had conducted a special fire safety education program for a general hospital located in Dong-gu.
This training, held on July 23, was organized in response to fire incidents that occurred in operating rooms of other medical institutions. The main objectives were to strengthen electrical safety management and to enhance the response capabilities of the hospital's self-protection fire brigade.
The training focused on the following topics: ▲vulnerabilities related to electrical fires in operating rooms ▲guidelines for preventing electrical fires ▲the roles and initial response measures of the self-protection fire brigade. Practical electrical safety tips that can be applied on site were actively shared, including preventing power strip overload, using dedicated outlets, and checking for pinched or damaged wires.
To aid understanding, the "10 Commandments of Electrical Safety in Operating Rooms," specifically created for the operating room environment, was also distributed. In addition, the step-by-step response procedures for the self-protection fire brigade were explained based on real-life cases, including ▲calling 119 and spreading information about the situation ▲guiding the evacuation of patients and visitors ▲initial fire suppression ▲cutting off electricity and gas.
Chief Kim Youngil stated, "Since operating rooms use various electrical devices, even minor carelessness can lead to fires," and added, "We will continue to improve the response capabilities of medical institutions through case-based training."
