Providing a Wide Range of AI Services... Reported by Bloomberg
COO Choi Wonjoon: "Delivering the Best User Experience"
There is a possibility that new artificial intelligence (AI) services such as OpenAI and Perplexity may be introduced in Samsung Electronics' new Galaxy smartphone, which is set to be released next year.
Bloomberg reported on the 25th that Samsung is in negotiations with companies including OpenAI and Perplexity to add AI services to its Galaxy smartphones. The goal is to offer a broader range of AI services beyond Google's Gemini, which is currently available.
According to Bloomberg, Choi Wonjoon, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Samsung Electronics' Mobile Experience (MX) division, stated in an interview with the outlet that the aim is to provide consumers with more options in the Galaxy S26 smartphone, which will be released next year.
COO Choi said, "We are talking to several companies," and added, "If it is competitive and can provide the best user experience, we are open to any AI chatbot in the market."
Previously, in June, Bloomberg reported that Samsung, after investing in Perplexity, was close to reaching an agreement to integrate Perplexity's applications and AI assistant into Samsung Electronics' products.
Bloomberg interpreted that, similar to its biggest competitor Apple, Samsung Electronics is seeking to strengthen its AI-related efforts through the best external partners.
