Ko stated, "On July 17, Gwangju experienced a record-breaking downpour of 386mm, and Pungam-dong recorded 311.5mm, the heaviest in 20 years, resulting in flooding of houses, commercial buildings, and roads." She added, "Flooded areas are at higher risk of infectious diseases, so quarantine measures are necessary. I welcome the fact that Seo-gu Office is currently implementing special quarantine in the flood-affected areas."
She continued, "To prevent secondary infections among residents and volunteers, I propose the provision of protective equipment such as boots, gloves, and masks, and emphasize the importance of pothole management due to heavy rain and heat waves." She requested, "It is necessary to secure budget and personnel so that the emergency pothole repair team can respond promptly not only during the thawing season but also in the summer."
Ko also said, "Let us work together to make Seo-gu a safe district from disasters through thorough preparation and prevention in the era of climate crisis." She expressed her sincere gratitude to Seo-gu residents, public officials, and volunteers who are working hard on recovery efforts after the heavy rain."
