Heats Up the Summer
Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province will host the 8th National Hupo Beach Volleyball Tournament for men and women at the special event arena of Hupo Beach, known for its pristine East Sea waves and beautiful natural scenery, over two days from July 26 to July 27.
This tournament, organized by the Hupo-myeon Youth Association and supervised by the Uljin County Sports Council, will feature intense competition among 48 teams and over 400 athletes from across the country.
Set against the backdrop of clean sandy beaches and the open East Sea, the matches are expected to offer spectators both refreshing summer memories and thrilling entertainment.
Beach volleyball is a sport that demands quick reflexes and strong teamwork, played barefoot on sandy beaches. The dynamic movements of the athletes and the intense rallies make the games highly engaging for people of all ages, making it a popular summer sport.
Additionally, because the matches take place on the beach, vacationers can naturally enjoy watching, which also contributes to the promotion of sports tourism.
The county plans to actively promote its optimal conditions, including administrative support and well-equipped sports facility infrastructure, through proactive sports marketing strategies.
Preparations are also being accelerated for the '2025 Uljin Geumgangsong Marathon' and the '3rd Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Park Golf National Tournament,' both to be held in September, with the goal of further developing these events as key drivers of local economic growth.
County Governor Son Byeongbok stated, "Through this beach volleyball tournament, we aim to enhance Hupo's brand value as a marine sports city and revitalize the local economy. We will ensure safe and high-quality tournament operations so that many visitors will want to return to Hupo."
