This briefing session was organized and led by Mayor Baek Younghyeon. It provided an explanation of the current status of the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway construction project and the future direction for railway network development, while also directly collecting a wide range of opinions from citizens.
Mayor Baek Younghyeon emphasized, "We will realize a railway policy centered on citizens," expressing his strong commitment to making Pocheon a 'city of transportation innovation.'
In attendance at the briefing were Mayor Baek Younghyeon, members of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, Pocheon City Council, officials from Gyeonggi Province and the Korea Real Estate Board (the project ordering agencies), as well as representatives from the construction and supervision companies. More than 300 members of the GTX Pocheon Invitation Promotion Committee and Pocheon citizens also participated, demonstrating high interest in railway policy.
Mayor Baek stated, "The railway network project, which has long been a wish for Pocheon, is now showing tangible results," and added, "The groundbreaking of the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway will lay the foundation for an even greater expansion of the transportation network."
He further said, "We will focus all administrative efforts to ensure that the GTX-G extension, Jinjeop Line extension, and general railway projects are carried out without any setbacks."
The presentation was delivered by Professor Cho Sinhyeong of the University of Seoul, who participated as a researcher in the 'Pocheon City Basic Railway Plan Establishment Service.' He introduced the future railway network construction plan for Pocheon City, followed by an open Q&A session.
Citizens expressed great interest in the construction schedule, including the locations of stations and the opening timeline for the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway project. They also asked questions and expressed expectations regarding whether the Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX-G) line, which is being promoted in connection with this route, would be included in the national railway network construction plan, as well as the transportation benefits expected from the Deokjeong-Okjeong urban railway project.

Additionally, citizens continued to show interest in the feasibility of long-term projects under discussion, such as the extension of the Jinjeop Line (Seoul Subway Line 4) and the Pocheon-Shincheorwon general railway project.
An official from Pocheon City stated, "With the groundbreaking of the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway project, the foundation for promoting connecting lines has been established," and added, "We will focus administrative efforts so that plans for urban and general railways, including GTX-G, can be reflected in higher-level plans." The official also said, "By securing stable demand through urban development, we will increase the feasibility of constructing the railway network."
The event also highlighted Pocheon City's efforts to resolve transportation blind spots. However, some citizens expressed regret that the city is excluded from national support simply because it is part of the metropolitan area, and argued that "policy consideration is needed for Pocheon, which has contributed to national security."
Mayor Baek Younghyeon said, "I hope this briefing has helped citizens resolve their questions and build consensus on the city's railway policy," and added, "We will achieve transportation innovation in Pocheon by constructing a railway network that enables everyone to travel conveniently."
