The Resident Public Contest Project is a program autonomously planned and operated by 34 village communities, including 24 under “Happiness Plus” and 10 under “Village Living Area Revitalization,” to solve local issues and revitalize the community.
As a representative example, the “Dodosuyeong Village Management Social Cooperative” in Suyeong-gu is conducting cooking classes using vegetables grown by children in rooftop gardens, thereby enhancing the effects of eco-friendly food and ecological education.
The “Haemaji Village Management Social Cooperative” in Yeonje-gu is operating educational programs in the community shared kitchen, focusing on healthy eating habits and environmental practices.
In Haeundae-gu, “Samuhappy Village” is creating a community food culture through its “Sharing Our Home Recipes” program, which features resident-participatory cooking classes and the use of seasonal ingredients.
In addition, various activities such as side dish sharing, village festivals, and senior Korean language classes are scheduled to continue until September 30.
President Shin Changho stated, “Programs that started from village ideas are narrowing the gap between generations and neighbors through the theme of ‘food.’” He added, “We will continue to discover and support projects in which residents take the lead and create village culture.”
