Kim Dongyeon Holds Phone Talks with Gapyeong County Head and Pocheon Mayor, Promises Maximum Support for Recovery Efforts

On July 24, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon promised to provide maximum support for recovery and relief efforts in the heavy rain-affected areas of Gapyeong and Pocheon during phone calls with Seo Taewon, the head of Gapyeong County, and Baek Younghyeon, the mayor of Pocheon.

Governor Kim, speaking from his office, first called Seo Taewon, the head of Gapyeong County, and said, "Gapyeong County has been designated as a special disaster area following prompt requests from both Gapyeong County and Gyeonggi Province," adding, "We will fully support all necessary measures for recovery."

He also stated, "We will mobilize all fire department resources for the search and rescue of missing persons," and added, "Gyeonggi Province officials and the volunteer center will make every effort to support the recovery in Gapyeong County."

Governor Kim then spoke with Baek Younghyeon, the mayor of Pocheon, and said, "We have requested that Soheul-eup and Naechon-myeon in Pocheon be designated as special disaster areas," and inquired if there were any additional needs for recovery efforts.

In response, Mayor Baek said, "We need support for air coolers and bottled water for the recovery personnel and volunteers mobilized for emergency repairs of livestock facilities," and requested, "Please recommend that not only Soheul-eup and Naechon-myeon but the entire city of Pocheon be designated as a special disaster area."

Governor Kim replied, "We will provide the necessary supplies immediately," and added, "We will mobilize all available personnel to quickly complete the damage assessment, and then decide on additional requests for special disaster area designation."
