and Deliver Relief Supplies

The Geochang County Council recently visited Sancheong County and Hapcheon County, which were designated as special disaster areas due to severe damage from recent heavy rainfall, to offer comfort to the displaced residents and deliver relief supplies.

On July 22, council members including Chairman Lee Jaeun visited the temporary shelter for displaced residents set up at Saengbiryang Elementary School in Sancheong County. They met with affected residents, delivering essential items such as underwear and bottled water that were urgently needed, and expressed their warm support and encouragement. Together with Sancheong County Council Chairman Kim Suhan, they toured the affected areas to assess the severity of the situation and conveyed their condolences.

On July 23, they visited the Hapcheon County Council, where they provided necessary relief supplies to displaced residents and officials working on flood recovery in the Hapcheon area, and expressed their support for the swift restoration of the damage.

Chairman Lee Jaeun stated, "I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the displaced residents who have lost their homes and are suffering due to this sudden disaster," and added, "The Geochang County Council will continue to share in the pain of neighboring regions and provide ongoing attention and support to offer practical assistance."

Sancheong County, which suffered a large-scale wildfire in March, has now experienced another major disaster with this flood, while Hapcheon County, located downstream from Geochang County, has suffered flood damage for the second consecutive year, compounding the difficulties faced by the region.

Meanwhile, the Geochang County Council plans to use this visit as an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and cooperation among local councils in the western region of Gyeongnam, and to seek ways to improve disaster response systems and establish recovery support measures in the future.
