Dongguk University Manhae Research Institute announced on the 25th that it held the '2025 Manhae Road March - DMZ Peace Trail Pilgrimage for National Harmony' in the Cheorwon area of Gangwon Province on the 18th and 19th.

This event was organized to honor the peace philosophy of Manhae Han Yongun, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the completion of his representative poetry collection, "Silence of My Beloved," which sang of the nation's freedom and peace during the Japanese colonial period.
The pilgrimage was attended by Jeon Hanseong, Director of the Manhae Research Institute, Kim Jongil, Operations Committee Member, Lee Wonyoung, Research Committee Member, and other members of the institute. Participants walked approximately 30 kilometers along the DMZ Peace Trail, visiting sites such as the DMZ Crane Peace Town, the Second Tunnel, the Peace Observatory, and the Labor Party Headquarters.
At the same time, they held a roundtable discussion, a flower-laying ceremony, and a moment of silence to honor Manhae's spirit of freedom, peace, and human community.
This march delivered the message of national unity conveyed by literature even more meaningfully by connecting the spirit of resistance and the hopes for freedom and peace embodied in Manhae's poetry with the current reality of division between North and South Korea.
The Director of the Manhae Research Institute emphasized, "Manhae defined the 1,600-year Buddhist cultural spirit of this land as the identity of the Korean people, and expressed our nation's unique characteristics in Hangul. That is precisely the greatness of the poetry collection 'Silence of My Beloved,' and as we approach its 100th anniversary of publication, it is necessary to widely share this significance."
