Han Hyunseo, a graduate of the Department of Football at Tongmyong University, is emerging as a promising talent in South Korean football.
Han Hyunseo was recently selected not only for the South Korea U-22 national team but also as a young player for 'Team K League,' the K League All-Star team, and is scheduled to play in a friendly match against Newcastle United of the English Premier League (EPL).
Currently playing for K League 1 club Pohang Steelers, Han Hyunseo has been recognized for solidifying his position within the team through stable match management and active movement since his professional debut.
His selection for the national team and participation in the All-Star game demonstrate that Han Hyunseo is being highlighted as a rising star with the potential to reach the national team level. The friendly match against Newcastle is also a stage where he will represent the K League on the global football scene.
Current students of the Department of Football at Tongmyong University are also making their mark. Player Kim Jaehyun was named to the squad for the '2025 Denso Cup Korea-Japan University Selection Match' and was also selected for the final roster of the university reserve (U-21) national team in June. In addition, he was chosen for the university representative team participating in the 8th 'THIEN LONG TOURNAMENT THAIGROUP CUP,' to be held in Vietnam in July, thus stepping onto the international stage. This tournament is a friendly competition featuring university and Universiade representative teams from major Southeast Asian countries.
Player Song Beom has also joined the South Korea U-20 national team, attracting attention as a young defensive talent.
The achievements of these players, including Han Hyunseo, who are active on national youth teams, professional teams, and international friendly stages, demonstrate that Tongmyong University is establishing itself as a hub for nurturing future football talent.
Jin Daekeun, head of the Department of Football at Tongmyong University, emphasized, "Having our students selected for national teams is a positive signal not only for the department and the university but also for Korean football as a whole," and added, "We will actively support our students so they can continue to advance to national teams and professional clubs."
The Department of Football at Tongmyong University is scheduled to be reorganized as the 'Department of Football and Sports Industry' by integrating with the Department of Leisure and Equestrian Studies starting from the 2026 academic year.
