The special prosecutor's team led by Min Junggi, which is investigating allegations against former First Lady Kim Keonhee, has summoned Cho Yeongyeong, a former administrative officer at the presidential office.
On the 23rd, the special prosecutor's team announced, "This morning, we summoned the former administrative officer from the presidential secretariat and are currently questioning her."
It is reported that the team is questioning the former officer regarding a necklace worth approximately 60 million won that Kim Keonhee wore during her trip to the NATO summit in June 2022.
According to the Public Service Ethics Act, jewelry valued at more than 5 million won must be reported as an asset. Kim Keonhee became embroiled in controversy after failing to include this necklace in her asset disclosure. When the allegations surfaced, the presidential office at the time explained, "It was borrowed from an acquaintance."
The team is also expected to look into the circumstances under which the wife of former personnel secretary Lee Wonmo accompanied the trip.
