Free Admission Until August 16 at Garden Five Central Plaza
11 Water Play Facilities Including Lazy River and Water Slides
Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) will operate the 'Songpa-gu Haha Hoho Water Playground' at the central plaza of Garden Five Life from July 25 to August 16. The water playground, which was held at Olympic Park last year, has been relocated and upgraded in both scale and enjoyment.
This year's 'Haha Hoho Water Playground' is establishing itself as an urban summer getaway by offering free life jacket rentals, installing shade canopies over the pool, expanding regular and weekend experiential events, improving accessibility, and boosting the local economy.
A total of 11 water play facilities tailored to children's needs will be installed. There will be various types of water slides, an aqua challenge bounce, and a lazy river. For the first time this year, children's life jackets will be available for free rental, and shade canopies will be set up over the pool to reduce concerns about UV exposure.
With ongoing programs such as bubble machines and water bombs, as well as special weekend events like the Tall Clown Balloon Show, drone soccer, and keyring making, the playground is expected to offer a unique experiential play space beyond simple water activities.
The 'Haha Hoho Water Playground' is conveniently located near subway and bus stops, and has a large parking lot, making it easily accessible by both public transportation and private vehicles.
The operating hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The playground runs without any days off, with a system of 45 minutes of use followed by a 15-minute break. Admission is free. To allow more children to participate, entry is divided into two sessions per day (10:00 AM?1:00 PM / 2:00 PM?5:00 PM).
Notably, by relocating the event to Garden Five Life this year, the district expects to reduce costs and further revitalize the local economy. Through a business agreement, the district received infrastructure such as the venue, water, and electricity free of charge, resulting in a budget reduction of about 100 million won. In addition, as more visitors are expected to use nearby restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores, increased sales and revitalization of local businesses are anticipated.
Real-time information on the operation of the 'Songpa-gu Haha Hoho Water Playground' can be found on 'Naver Place.' On August 17, the district plans to operate a 'Pet Water Playground,' utilizing the existing facilities so that pets and their owners can enjoy the space together.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "'Haha Hoho Water Playground' will provide a refreshing summer for residents and invigorate nearby businesses as a model for mutual growth," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure safety so that everyone can create enjoyable summer memories with peace of mind."
