Certification Testing in Two Areas:
Machine Learning Classification Performance and
AI System Quality Assessment
The Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute at Dong-Eui University, led by Director Kwon Soonkak, has been officially designated as an International Industrial AI Certification Testing and Evaluation Agency.
The Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), which serves as the secretariat of the Industrial AI International Certification Forum, recently designated seven new organizations, including the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute, as testing and evaluation agencies following a review by the operations committee.
With this designation, the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute will now conduct certification testing and evaluation in two areas: machine learning classification performance (ISO/IEC TS 4213) and AI system quality assessment (ISO/IEC TS 25058, 25023).
The Industrial AI International Certification Forum is a public-private partnership network jointly established by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KTL in 2022. It supports the reliability of industrial AI products and services through an international standard-based conformity assessment system.
The forum includes 20 domestic consultative bodies, such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, Chungcheongnam-do, Asan City, and KTL, as well as international partners like Germany's VDE and Switzerland's CERTX.
Since being recognized in March 2016 as the first KOLAS internationally accredited testing laboratory in the software field in the southeastern region, the Busan IT Convergence Components Research Institute has issued over 800 official test reports for 22 international standard items. In May 2021, it was also designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT as a software quality certification (GS certification) body, having issued over 100 certificates to date.
Director Kwon Soonkak stated, "This designation will serve as a turning point in gaining international recognition for the reliability and quality of the local AI industry," and emphasized, "We will continue to expand the AI reliability testing and certification system to help related companies secure global competitiveness."
