Ulsan City, Dong-gu District Office, and Jjaekjjaek Rest Area (a bird-watching club) will host a bird photo exhibition from July 21 to August 25 in the first-floor lobby of the Daewangam Park Management Office in Dong-gu. The exhibition will showcase photographs of birds taken by club members.

This exhibition aims to widely promote the ecological value of Daewangam Park, as observed by bird enthusiasts through birds, and to offer a unique attraction.

For the first time, 20 bird photographs taken by Jjaekjjaek Rest Area members, who directly observed and photographed birds along the coast within Daewangam Park since January of last year, will be displayed.

In particular, the exhibition will feature photographs of the Black Pigeon, a Class II endangered wild species that briefly stays on the Ulsan coast before heading to Sadong, Ulleungdo for breeding, as well as the rare summer visitor Pal-saek-jo.

Additionally, visitors can view photos of migratory birds that visit in spring and summer, such as the Red-breasted Robin, Large Glass Bird, Golden Oriole, Oriole, and Cuckoo.

Other highlights include the Sangmosolsae, a tiny bird weighing about 5g perched on a small branch in Daewangam Park, as well as photos of the Greater Sand Plover and Terek Sandpiper captured along the coast.

In addition, resident birds such as the Daksaae, Bangulsaae, Parksae, and Red-headed Tit will also be on display.

Hong Seungmin, head of Jjaekjjaek Rest Area, said, "I hope this exhibition will serve as an opportunity to recognize the precious ecological value of Daewangam Park through encounters with various birds," and added, "Even more bird species than those exhibited are being observed and recorded, so we plan to continue with second and third exhibitions in the future, along with ecological conservation activities."

An official from Ulsan City stated, "We selected exhibition works mainly from field photographs recorded by students and office workers," and continued, "We hope this will provide an opportunity for many citizens to appreciate the birds that visit Daewangam Park in Ulsan."

Jjaekjjaek Rest Area was founded in October 2023 by 80 members, including students and office workers, who observe and document birds. The members have been actively conducting habitat surveys, migration route research, and ecological conservation activities to ensure that birds visiting Ulsan can stay safely.
