The Daham Volunteer Group medical staff are performing ultrasound diagnostics to accurately identify the affected areas in heat-sensitive individuals and administering injection treatments accordingly. Hope Bridge
Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pilho) announced on July 21 that, together with the Daham Volunteer Group (led by Park Seunghyun), it carried out a free medical volunteer service for heat-sensitive individuals in the plaza in front of the Juyeop Community Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
This initiative was organized as a period of intense heat was expected following heavy rains, specifically targeting vulnerable groups such as multicultural families and undocumented foreigners who are often excluded from adequate healthcare. The Daham Volunteer Group, consisting of five medical professionals?including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists?and five on-site support staff, for a total of ten members, checked the participants' health conditions and provided basic medical care for heat-related symptoms.
At the site, Hope Bridge’s psychological relief vehicle, produced with support from Samsung, was deployed to assist with the medical environment. In addition to emergency medicines, 208 sets of “Mind Shower Kits” were also distributed to help participants cope with the heat.
Park Seunghyun, leader of the Daham Volunteer Group, stated, “These individuals are fully exposed to the summer heat and are excluded from medical benefits. Even minor symptoms, if neglected, can develop into serious illnesses. It was meaningful to check their basic health conditions and provide necessary treatment today.”
Mr. A, a foreign worker who received free medical care, said, “The heat has been very difficult, but I am truly grateful for both the free medical service and the shower supplies provided.”
Kim Mikang, head of disaster relief management at Hope Bridge, commented, “Extreme heat is not just a matter of discomfort but a serious disaster that can threaten lives, making prompt and appropriate response crucial. It is meaningful to be able to provide essential support to heat-sensitive individuals together with the Daham Volunteer Group.”
