Former Minister of Education nominee Lee Jinsook stated on July 21 that she "humbly accepts the decision of the appointing authority" regarding the withdrawal of her nomination.
On the same day, Koo Yeonhee, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, conveyed Lee's message during a regular briefing held at the Sejong Government Complex in the morning.
Lee Jinsook said, "This has been a significant opportunity for reflection, and I will strive even harder in the future," adding, "I wish for the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration."
With Lee Jinsook stepping down 21 days after her nomination, the Ministry of Education plans to address key education issues, such as the return of medical students, under the leadership of Vice Minister Choi Eunok for the time being.
Spokesperson Koo stated, "There is little need to be overly concerned about a potential leadership vacuum in education."
