Sejong Office of Education Holds Special Mental Health Lecture for Parents

Lecture on "Solutions for Children's Emotional Crises! A Mental Health Prescription for Our Children"

The Sejong City Office of Education and the Sejong Student Health Mental Center held a special mental health lecture for parents in collaboration with the local community on July 18.

This lecture, held in the performance hall on the 6th floor of the B OK Art Center and attended by about 200 parents, was organized to provide an opportunity for parents to better understand and carefully observe their children's minds, as well as to seek practical methods for supporting their children's healthy development.

Ji Gudeok, director of Hanseo Central Hospital and head of the Lululala Wee Center at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, served as the lecturer, speaking on the topic "A Mental Health Prescription for Our Children: Anxiety and Growth in Adolescents."

Director Ji Gudeok explained depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as they relate to adolescent brain development, shared the concerns and anxieties that parents experience during their children's growth, and provided an opportunity to broaden understanding and empathy regarding mental health.

Superintendent Choi stated, "The number of at-risk students experiencing mental health issues has been continuously increasing recently," and emphasized that even a small amount of attention and empathy from parents can be more powerful than any treatment. "I hope you will be a cool shade and a strong fence for our children," he added. He continued, "We will continue to provide various programs and counseling services to support students and parents experiencing emotional difficulties."
