Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province is temporarily adjusting the operating hours of five outdoor sports facilities in the area to protect the health and safety of its residents from the summer heatwave.
According to the county on the 18th, this measure will be applied when a heatwave advisory or warning is issued, and will be implemented for a total of 42 days from July 21 to August 31.

The facilities with adjusted operating hours are: the Public Stadium, the Community Sports Stadium, the Paldeok Multipurpose Auxiliary Stadium, the Yudeung Healing Park Golf Course, and the Seomjingang Park Golf Course, totaling five locations.
Specifically, the Public Stadium, Community Sports Stadium, and Paldeok Multipurpose Auxiliary Stadium, which previously operated from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., will be available from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. when a heatwave advisory or warning is in effect. Use will be restricted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, the operating hours of the Yudeung Healing Park Golf Course and Seomjingang Park Golf Course, which previously operated from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., will be changed to 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Information regarding the changes in operating hours will be actively promoted through the county office website and official social media channels. Banners will also be installed at each sports facility to directly inform visitors. For more details, residents can contact the County Sports Promotion Office for guidance.
County Governor Choi Youngil stated, "This proactive measure is a decision to protect the lives and health of our residents. We will do our best to ensure that residents can safely use sports facilities even during the heatwave. We also plan to extend operating hours for facilities that can be used at night, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation."
This measure is being implemented based on Article 7 of the 'Sunchang County Sports Facility Management and Operation Ordinance' and Article 6 of the 'Sunchang County Park Golf Course Management and Operation Ordinance,' which stipulate that usage may be restricted when significant danger is anticipated.
