Suncheon City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu), announced on July 17 that it will host the '2025 Dongcheon Night Glow Festival' for 24 days from August 8 to 31.

Held under the theme 'Dongcheon Under the Stars,' this festival will offer a romantic summer night where citizens and tourists come together, set against the backdrop of Dongcheon River, which has become a popular nighttime destination in the city center.

The festival goes beyond a simple lighting event, positioning itself as Suncheon's unique 'win-win nighttime festival' that brings together the old downtown commercial district and local residents. It will take place along Dongcheon River, stretching from Pungdeokgyo Bridge to Palma Bridge. The area will be filled with nighttime attractions perfect for photos, including a starlight rose tunnel reminiscent of the night sky, a landscape garden decorated with hibiscus flowers, and a 10-meter-tall sculpture of 'Lumi,' Suncheon's mascot.

There is more than just things to see. The festival will also feature a variety of programs open to everyone. These include a glow-in-the-dark race marathon where participants wear colorful, glowing gear; a wish boat event where people can float their wishes on Dongcheon River; a glow short-form video challenge for creative visual content; and a market pop-up store in collaboration with the old downtown commercial district.

A city official stated, "For the first Dongcheon Night Glow Festival, we have prepared a wide range of attractions and activities," adding, "We aim to develop this into a sustainable summer night festival created by the region's natural environment, commercial districts, and residents, rather than a one-time event."
