Urban park water playgrounds in the heart of Gwangju, designed to provide relief from the ongoing scorching heat, will all begin operating simultaneously starting this week.
On July 17, Gwangju City announced that it will officially open eight urban water playgrounds and fifteen water facilities throughout the city from this week.
The main water playgrounds include Gwangju Citizen's Forest, Jungoe Park, Sangmu Citizen's Park, and Ssanghak Children's Park. These facilities will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In particular, the Gwangjucheon Natural Water Playground is also scheduled to operate.
All water playgrounds are free of charge. The city will ensure thorough safety and hygiene management by assigning safety personnel at all times and conducting regular water quality inspections.
Fifteen water facilities?including ground fountains, music fountains, and aeration fountains?also offer residents a way to cool off. These facilities, installed at locations such as Jungoe Park, Unnam Park, and Yangsan Lake Park, will remain open until October.
Cho Seokhyeon, Director of Urban Parks, stated, "I hope families can enjoy a refreshing break at a nearby park during the hot summer," adding, "We will continue to do our best to create a pleasant and safe water play environment for citizens."
