Mokpo City to Distribute "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons" Up to 430,000 Won Starting July 21

Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province will distribute "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupons" to boost spending among citizens struggling due to the economic downturn and to revitalize the local economy.

On July 17, Mokpo City announced that the first round of coupon distribution will begin on July 21 and continue until September 12. The recipients of this consumption coupon are all citizens who were registered residents of Mokpo City as of June 18.

In the first round, each ordinary citizen will receive 180,000 won. Citizens in the second-lowest income bracket and single-parent families will receive 330,000 won, while basic livelihood security recipients will receive 430,000 won. In particular, citizens residing in non-metropolitan areas will receive an additional 30,000 won per person.

During the first week of applications, from July 21 to 25, an application schedule based on the last digit of the applicant's birth year will be implemented. Those whose birth year ends in ▲1 or 6 can apply on Monday, ▲2 or 7 on Tuesday, ▲3 or 8 on Wednesday, ▲4 or 9 on Thursday, and ▲5 or 0 on Friday. On weekends, anyone can apply online regardless of the last digit.

Adults must apply individually, while the head of household may apply on behalf of minors. Applicants can choose between a credit card, debit card, or prepaid card as the payment method. Online applications are available 24 hours a day through card company and gift certificate websites and apps. Offline applications can be made by visiting bank branches affiliated with the card companies or local administrative welfare centers. The coupons can be used until November 30, and are valid only at local small businesses with annual sales of less than 3 billion won.

Starting July 28, the city will operate a "visiting application service," in which administrative welfare center staff will visit and assist vulnerable citizens who have difficulty moving around, handling both applications and distribution in person.

Meanwhile, the second round of Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon distribution will take place from September 22 to October 31. In the second round, 100,000 won will be provided per person to all citizens except those in the top 10% income bracket, and these coupons must also be used by November 30.

A city official said, "We expect this to provide substantial help to citizens struggling with rising prices and the economic downturn," adding, "We will ensure the coupons are distributed swiftly and without any setbacks."
