Purchased via SNS and Injected at Lodging Facility
Methamphetamine and Syringe Recovered at the Scene
The police arrested a man in his 40s on the spot for drug use after receiving a report of a guest causing a disturbance at a lodging facility in Gwangju. It was revealed that the man had purchased methamphetamine through social media.
The Gwangju Seobu Police Station announced on July 17 that they had detained a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act the previous day.
A is suspected of injecting methamphetamine at a lodging facility in Hwajeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, around 3 a.m. on July 13. According to the police, A purchased methamphetamine through social media (SNS) and injected it using a disposable syringe.
The fact that A had used drugs came to light after the owner of the lodging facility filed a report. The owner informed the police that "the guest broke some items," and when the police arrived, they found A causing a disturbance at the scene. The police conducted a rapid drug test on A, which returned a positive result for methamphetamine, leading to his arrest at the scene.
The police recovered the syringe used by A and a portion of the remaining methamphetamine at the scene. They are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident involving A and are also continuing their investigation into the supplier and other upstream sources of the drugs.
