Gokseong County, South Jeolla Province, announced on the 16th that the Gokseong Torandoran Rural Convergence Industry Group hosted the 'Taro Producer Capacity Building Training' on the 15th in the meeting room of the Jukgok-myeon Office for about 40 taro producers.

This training was organized to enhance understanding of rural convergence industries and to increase the added value of Gokseong taro. Kim Namuk, CEO of Haenam Sweet Potato Food Co., Ltd., was invited to share practical product development and marketing strategies, focusing on successful cases from other regions.

Kim Namuk provided detailed explanations about the process of developing processed foods using sweet potatoes, rural experience programs, and know-how in both online and offline sales. The participants showed great interest in the potential for developing various products using taro and in establishing differentiated marketing strategies unique to Gokseong taro.

The attendees commented, "Listening to vivid stories from the field about production, processing, and experience of agricultural products gave us another opportunity to realize the importance of high value-added product commercialization, sales strategies, and marketing."

The county expects that this training will help further concretize strategies for processed product development and market expansion for Gokseong taro, as well as strengthen the capabilities and collaborative foundation of participating farms. In addition, it is anticipated to contribute to the development of a Gokseong-style rural convergence model by benchmarking successful models from other regions.

A county official stated, "We will continue to expand customized education and support to strengthen the competitiveness of taro, our local specialty, and to increase farm income."

Meanwhile, the county plans to hold a second training session on the 22nd at the Samgi-myeon Office. The session will explore various possibilities for business expansion, including the development of processed products and product improvement strategies reflecting market feedback, as well as functional snacks and meal kits, under the theme of 'Cases of the Sixth Industrialization of Taro.'
