Full-Scale Agreements Signed from Tokyo to Fukuoka
"From Admission to Settlement": Enhanced Global Recruitment Strategy

Busan National University (President Choi Jaewon) has partnered with major regional Korea Education Centers in Japan to launch a full-scale effort to attract Japanese international students.

The university has established a practical foundation for expanding its global campus by signing in-person agreements with 13 Korea Education Centers across seven regions, from Tokyo to Fukuoka.

To put its "Internationalization Vision" announced in June into action, Busan National University visited Japan from June 28 to July 11 and signed agreements with 13 Korea Education Centers in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Okayama, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Shimonoseki, and Sendai.

This agreement, reached through individual consultations with each education center, is being recognized as a practical model for educational cooperation between Korea and Japan.

Through this agreement, Busan National University will receive information from the Korea Education Centers on high schools and educational institutions with high demand for studying abroad, enabling the university to develop region-specific recruitment strategies. For example, in Hiroshima, science-specialized high schools are recommended, while in Fukuoka, high schools specializing in tourism and business are highlighted.

Going forward, Busan National University plans to jointly hold study abroad information sessions in Japan with the Korea Education Centers and to invite students recommended by the heads of the centers to Busan each year for major experience programs and campus tours.

Lee Changhwan, Director of International Affairs at Busan National University (Professor of Physics), stated, "This agreement marks a step forward for Busan National University in realizing a residency-based international student recruitment model that connects admission to career development through the RISE system," and emphasized, "We will build a sustainable system that supports academics, helps students settle into daily life, connects them with internships, and matches them with local employment opportunities, thereby nurturing outstanding Japanese students into global talents."

There are a total of 15 Korea Education Centers in Japan, and Busan National University plans to complete agreements with the remaining two centers (Sapporo and Nagano) by the end of August, thereby establishing a nationwide foundation for recruiting international students from Japan. The university also intends to continue expanding cooperation with Korea Education Centers in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

This international student recruitment strategy by Busan National University aims to build a comprehensive educational ecosystem that goes beyond simple study abroad to encompass study, employment, and settlement. The university expects to create a virtuous cycle that brings global talent into the local community.
