Hanwha Life Insurance announced on the 16th that it has obtained a nine-month exclusive use right from the Korea Life Insurance Association for three new cancer coverage riders.
The riders granted exclusive use rights are: ▲ Cancer Examination Expense Support Rider ▲ Multidisciplinary Integrated Cancer Treatment Coverage Rider for Covered Services ▲ General Hospital Covered Cancer Intensive Nutrition Therapy Coverage Rider. All three riders were added to the "Signature H Cancer Insurance" product launched last month.
The key feature of these riders is that they provide substantial coverage throughout the entire process, from cancer diagnosis to treatment and recovery. While conventional cancer insurance mainly focused on diagnosis and hospitalization, these new riders have been highly rated for offering coverage tailored to the actual treatment process.
In terms of examinations, the "Cancer Examination Expense Support Rider" covers not only major tests such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and positron emission tomography (PET), but also other precision tests such as in vitro diagnostic multi-marker tests and stereotactic breast biopsy. Recognizing that cancer is a disease requiring frequent follow-up examinations even after treatment, the coverage was designed to fill gaps due to the high frequency of such tests.
At the treatment stage, the "Multidisciplinary Integrated Cancer Treatment Coverage Rider for Covered Services" is the first in the industry to cover "multidisciplinary integrated care," in which specialists such as surgeons, oncologists, and radiologists collaborate to determine the optimal treatment plan.
Unlike existing cancer insurance, which was structured by individual medical service items, this rider recognizes multidisciplinary integrated care itself as a single medical act and provides coverage accordingly. If this care is received, a treatment benefit is paid once per year.
The "General Hospital Covered Cancer Intensive Nutrition Therapy Coverage Rider" expands coverage to include "intensive nutrition support therapy." If a patient receives intensive nutrition therapy at a general hospital, a one-time treatment benefit is paid for the initial session.
Lee Sanghee, head of product development at Hanwha Life Insurance, said, "We launched these coverages after about one year and ten months of development to fill the gaps in existing cancer insurance," adding, "We will continue to develop insurance products that customers can tangibly benefit from."
