The international development NGO Global Sharing Movement (Chairperson Kim Hyekyung) announced on the 16th that it had carried out volunteer activities in Uzbekistan in cooperation with Korea Evaluation Data (CEO Hong Doosun, KoDATA).
From July 4, for a period of eight days, 23 employees of Korea Evaluation Data visited key cities in Uzbekistan, including Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, where they engaged with local residents through cultural exchange and environmental improvement activities. In particular, the program conducted in collaboration with the Samarkand Koryoin Cultural Association became a platform for intergenerational and cultural exchange, going beyond simple volunteer work.
At the Samarkand Koryoin Cultural Center, the volunteer group presented a variety of cultural activities for local Koryoin, including making traditional Korean ornaments (Norigye and mother-of-pearl crafts), a magic show, serving Korean food, and a hand massage experience. They also contributed to environmental improvement by removing weeds and tidying up the area around the Koryoin Cultural Center. During this process, students from the Department of Korean Language at Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages participated as interpreters, further expanding the scope of exchange.
On the 8th, volunteers at the Samarkand SOS Children's Village are taking commemorative photos with participating children. Global Sharing Movement
At the Samarkand SOS Children's Village, the group operated experience booths for children, offering traditional games, sports activities, a magic show, and balloon art, which were met with a very positive response.
Wooseokwon, Chairman of the Korea Evaluation Data Labor Union, and Kim Jungtae, Executive Director of the Management Infrastructure Division, who served as joint leaders of the volunteer team, said, "Beyond the meaning of contributing to the international community, it was meaningful to see the smiles of elderly Koryoin and children," adding, "We will continue to share and deepen the friendship between the two countries."
Park Euljong, Executive Director of Global Sharing Movement, stated, "This activity has served as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Korea and Uzbekistan and to lay the foundation for sustainable exchange with local residents," and added, "We will continue to carry out more sharing activities through public-private partnerships in the future."
