YES24 to Host Children's Book Report Contest... Entries Accepted Until September 23

Now in its 22nd year, the "YES24 Children's Book Report Contest" is designed to motivate children to read and to promote reading education. Up to the 21st contest held last year, a total of approximately 220,000 book reports had been submitted, and the event has received enthusiastic participation every year, not only from within Korea but also from overseas.

This 22nd Children's Book Report Contest is co-hosted by YES24 and The Korea Children's Newspaper, with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Library for Children and Young Adults, and the Korean Association of Children's Literature Authors, among others.

All elementary and kindergarten students nationwide are eligible to participate in the contest. To enter, participants can freely write a book report about a "book that left a deep impression" and submit it online to YES24's reading community "Sarak" by 2:00 p.m. on September 23. Kindergarten participants may submit a book report that includes both writing and drawings, while lower and upper grade elementary students are required to submit book reports of at least 300 and 600 characters, respectively.

Winners will be selected in the individual, group, and special categories, and the announcement is scheduled for October 21. In the individual category, awards will include the Grand Prize (1 recipient, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award), First Prize (3 recipients), Gold Prize (8 recipients), Silver Prize (14 recipients), Bronze Prize (65 recipients), and Encouragement Prize (500 recipients). In the group category, awards will include the Grand Prize (1 group), First Prize (2 groups), Excellence Prize (3 groups), and Teacher Guidance Award (1 recipient). Special categories for publishers, such as the "Good Children's Book Award" and the "Popular Children's Book Award," will also be presented. The awards ceremony will be held in November.

To commemorate the contest, YES24 will give all entrants a 60-day Crema Club pass and a 3,000-won YES gift certificate. In addition, a Children's Handwriting Copy Challenge will be held to encourage broader participation. This event will be conducted both online, where participants upload a post on Sarak with their handwritten sentences and tags, and offline, where participants can take part in the handwriting challenge at YES24's new and used bookstores in the special contest corner.

Choi Sera, CEO of YES24, stated, "YES24 has been holding the Children's Book Report Contest every year since 2005 to provide children with more natural opportunities to read and to help spread a culture of reading among children." She added, "With the growing importance of children's reading education, we hope this year's contest will become a vibrant cultural event."
