Chonnam National University Hospital held the "2025 Medical Research Academic Awards" ceremony and announced 12 awardees across 10 categories.
The Institute of Biomedical Research at Chonnam National University Hospital recently hosted the Medical Research Academic Awards Ceremony and Research Presentation Symposium in the large conference room on the first floor of the Biomedical Research Support Center. The event began with opening remarks from Director Ki Seungjeong of the Institute of Biomedical Research, followed by a congratulatory address from Director Jung Shin, awards in each category, and research presentations by the awardees.
The Medical Research Academic Awards were established to inspire research motivation and enhance research capabilities among professors at Chonnam National University Hospital, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, Bitgoeul Chonnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Children's Hospital, Chonnam National University Dental Hospital, Chonnam National University Medical School, and the Graduate School of Dentistry. Each year, outstanding medical researchers are selected and honored through evaluation by a panel of judges.
On this day, Director Jung Shin presented awards to 12 recipients in 10 categories: Special (Lee Kihong, Department of Cardiology), Internal Medicine (Lee Eun, Department of Pediatrics), Surgery (Moon Kyungseop, Department of Neurosurgery), Basic Science (Kim Hyungseok, Department of Forensic Medicine), Young Researcher (Song Gayoung, Department of Hematology), Outstanding Research Project (Park Hyukjin, Department of Cardiology), Most Published Papers (Ryu Hyeonho, Department of Emergency Medicine), Outstanding Research Funding (Kim Seongwan, Department of Psychiatry), Outstanding Researcher (Cho Hyanghee, Department of Cardiology), and Student Collaborative Research (Jung Yujin, Department of Emergency Medicine; Kang Jihyeon and Moon Jinyeong, Chonnam National University Medical School).
In the newly established Student Collaborative Research category, which aims to foster physician-scientists, Professor Jung Yujin from the Department of Emergency Medicine, along with students Kang Jihyeon and Moon Jiyoung from Chonnam National University Medical School, presented the results of their project titled "Development of a Predictive Model for Risk Factors of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases Using National Big Data."
Director Jung Shin stated, "The outstanding research achievements of this year's Medical Research Academic Award recipients are expected to make significant contributions to the realization of patient-centered medical services and the advancement of medicine at our hospital. Chonnam National University Hospital will continue to support the enhancement of research capabilities among our excellent medical staff and will strive to play a leading role in the development of healthcare at both the regional and national levels."
