Sungju County announced that Hanyeonwoo Han, a first-year student at Suryun Middle School, achieved second place in the carom billiards category at the 20th Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism National Amateur Billiards Tournament and the 2025 Namwon National Billiards Championship.
This tournament is being held at the Sports Town Gymnasium in Namwon, Jeollabuk-do, over a five-day period from July 12 to July 16, 2025. It is the largest billiards competition in Korea, combining amateur and professional sports, and attracted more than 1,600 participants from across the country.
The carom billiards event, in which Hanyeonwoo Han finished as runner-up, requires precise technique and strong concentration. The competition was fierce, with top players from all over the country participating.
After passing through intense preliminary rounds, Hanyeonwoo Han advanced to the finals thanks to his calm game management and persistent play, earning the honor of being ranked second nationwide.
Hanyeonwoo Han is known for diligently honing his billiards skills while balancing both academics and sports.
Teachers at Suryun Middle School commented, "Yeonwoo is a student who always immerses himself responsibly in what he loves. We are even prouder because this achievement is the result of his steady efforts in both school life and sports."
