Starting in mid-July, Gyeonggi Province will conduct intensive inspections of six valleys in four cities and counties, including Baegun Valley in Pocheon and Amicheon in Yeoncheon, in collaboration with four 'village communities' over a seven-week period.
Village communities are organizations formed voluntarily by residents who share common interests. As part of the 'Clean Valley Restoration Area Maintenance Project,' Gyeonggi Province has planned inspections with the participation of local residents to preserve the natural environment and create a safe environment for visitors.
The main inspection targets are Baegun Valley in Pocheon, Amicheon in Yeoncheon, Gapyeongcheon, Eobi Valley, and Jojongcheon in Gapyeong, and Tapdong Valley in Dongducheon. The inspections will take place from July 14 to August 30.
Gyeonggi Province will operate both self-inspection teams organized directly by the village communities and joint inspection teams involving the province and local governments. These teams will inspect the management of convenience facilities, the state of environmental maintenance, and the occurrence of illegal activities.
The self-inspection teams will operate continuously during the summer vacation period, handling facility maintenance and responding to civil complaints according to local characteristics. The joint inspection teams will verify the operational status on-site and gather feedback from local residents and visitors to reflect in future operational plans.
Ko Byungsoo, Director of the Community Support Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This intensive inspection aims to help clean valleys become safe and pleasant resting spaces for residents," and added, "We will continue to do our best to maintain a sustainable clean environment through local resident participation and to create valleys and streams that people want to visit again."
