"We Will Apply for Arrest Warrants"
The Andong Police Station in Gyeongbuk announced on July 13 that it had arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, a former contract teacher, on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a school during exam period.
The police also booked, without detention, a parent in their 40s, identified as B, on the same charges.
They are accused of entering a high school in Andong at around 1:20 a.m. on July 4.
Their actions were reportedly detected when the school's security system was triggered. The police believe that the suspects may have committed similar offenses in the past and are investigating related allegations.
The police plan to apply for arrest warrants for both suspects and are also investigating a school facilities manager who allegedly assisted in the intrusion on the same charges.
The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education issued a press release on the same day, stating, "We will conduct an urgent inspection of all general high schools in the province and the security of all student assessments," and added, "Regarding the incident of unauthorized entry by outsiders, the teacher involved will be disciplined in accordance with the rules on disciplinary measures."
