Special Envoys to Four Countries to Depart Sequentially from the 14th
Presidential Letters to Be Delivered to Expand Cooperation

President Lee Jae Myung will dispatch special envoys to the European Union (EU), France, the United Kingdom, and India. The envoys will meet with key figures in each country and deliver President Lee's message, along with a personal letter, regarding the expansion of friendly and cooperative relations.


On the 13th, the Office of the President announced, "Our government has decided to dispatch presidential special envoys to major countries to inform the international community of the return of democratic Korea and to explain the new administration's governing philosophy and foreign policy," adding, "The special envoys, whose schedules have been arranged for this week, are scheduled to depart sequentially starting on the 14th."


Yoon Yeo Joon, former Minister of Environment, has been appointed as the head of the EU envoy delegation. Members include lawmakers Jun Hyun Hee and Son Myung Soo. The delegation will visit Belgium, where the EU headquarters is located, to meet with key figures from the EU Council and the European Parliament. The envoys will discuss ways to strengthen the "Korea-EU Strategic Partnership," which was established in 2010, and will convey their commitment to cooperation in areas such as digital technology, climate change, and advanced science and technology.

The French envoy delegation will be led by Kang Kum Sil, former Minister of Justice, with lawmakers Han Byung Do and Chun Jun Ho joining as members. The Office of the President stated that the envoys will meet with key figures in French politics, business, and parliament, and will deliver the message that the Korean government hopes to further strengthen the "21st Century Comprehensive Partnership" with France by expanding cooperation in various fields, especially as the two countries mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.


The UK envoy delegation will be headed by lawmaker Choo Mi Ae, with lawmakers Choi Min Hee and Park Sun Won participating. According to the Office of the President, the envoys will discuss global challenges such as defense and defense industry cooperation, economic collaboration, and climate change with key figures from the UK government and parliament. The Office of the President also mentioned that the delegation will convey the Korean government's commitment to further strengthening the "Global Strategic Partnership" between Korea and the UK and will engage in extensive discussions on this matter.


The Indian envoy delegation will be led by Kim Boo Kyum, former Prime Minister. Song Soon Ho, Supreme Council Member, and lawmaker Lee Gae Ho have been included as members. It is reported that the envoys will meet with key officials from the Indian government to exchange views on expanding the "Special Strategic Partnership," which marks its 10th anniversary this year, into a comprehensive cooperative relationship encompassing supply chains, defense and national security, core technologies, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
