Yoon Heesook Criticizes Those Who Refuse to Apologize for Impeachment as "Top Priority for Personnel Reform"

"Those Who Refuse to Apologize Must Leave the Party"

Yoon Heesook, Chair of the Innovation Committee of the People Power Party, criticized those who say there is no need to apologize or reflect regarding the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol on the 13th, calling them "the top priority for personnel reform."

At a press conference held at the central party office in Yeouido on this day, Chair Yoon stated, "Those who have made mistakes leading up to this point must apologize individually," and urged, "As the Innovation Committee Chair, I call for apologies that admit 'we were wrong' and 'we will renew ourselves.' That is the first step toward party reform," she emphasized.

She continued, "Far from apologizing, those who block the party's renewal and say 'nothing is needed' are relying on votes thrown by Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon in the square to do politics," adding, "Former President Yoon likely declared martial law trusting such people, and these individuals must leave the party."

In addition, Chair Yoon explained the scope and targets of personnel reform, listing eight incidents in reverse chronological order, starting from the mistakes made as the ruling party during the Yoon Sukyeol administration to the recent presidential election defeat.

The eight incidents are: ▲failure in the presidential election ▲attempts to replace the presidential candidate ▲reversal of the unified candidacy stance by the presidential candidate ▲protests by lawmakers in front of the presidential residence immediately after martial law ▲issues on the party member bulletin board involving the party leader's family ▲ignoring the principles of proportional representation nominations in the 22nd general election ▲amendments to the party constitution and regulations for specific individuals ▲neglecting to address the distortion of state affairs during the previous administration.

Chair Yoon assessed these incidents as "truly shameful for party members." She added, "Those who admit past mistakes and declare their intention to start anew are engaging in reform," and continued, "For those who do not, stronger recommendations must be made."
